The Founding Fathers’ Vision: How Independence Day Still Shapes Our Freedom Today
The Legacy of July 4th
Every summer, Americans gather to grill, wave flags, and watch fireworks. But July 4th is more than a celebration. It marks the moment our nation declared that liberty comes from God, not from kings or bureaucrats. That belief changed the course of history.
At FourG Media, we stand on the same foundation the Founders laid in 1776: truth, responsibility, and freedom. Their vision was bold. It still lights the way for those of us fighting to preserve what they began.
The Founders Believed in Divine Liberty
The Declaration of Independence doesn’t mention political parties or polling data. It begins with truth. “All men are created equal… endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” That idea shocked the world. It still does.
Freedom, in their view, wasn’t a government favor. It was a birthright from God. Jefferson called it “the gift of God.” George Washington said religion and morality were the “indispensable supports” of freedom. John Adams warned that our Constitution was made for “a moral and religious people.” Without faith and virtue, freedom unravels.
Our Founders knew liberty would collapse if not anchored in a moral order. That’s why they emphasized family, community, church, and personal responsibility. Those values were not accessories. They were the framework of a free republic.
Self-Governance: A Radical and Sacred Idea
In 1776, most of the world still bowed to kings. But our Founders trusted something better: the people. They believed ordinary Americans could govern themselves through wisdom, discipline, and truth.
Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Wherever the people are well informed, they can be trusted with their own government.” That belief gave rise to our republic, where authority flows from the people upward, not the other way around.
Today, this idea is under assault. Elites and institutions try to concentrate power, silence dissent, and control what we say, believe, and do. That’s not liberty. That’s control. And it runs directly against what our Founders fought for.
The Vision Under Threat
Ask yourself, what would the Founding Fathers say about America now?
Government surveillance has expanded. Religious liberty has been restricted. Faith is mocked. Families are targeted. Free speech is censored. Between Big Tech’s backdoor deals with federal agencies and declining trust in Congress, we see the damage of unchecked power.
Nearly 80% of Americans believe political viewpoints are censored online. That belief is not paranoia. It reflects a pattern. In 2022 alone, Twitter received over 53,000 legal requests from governments to remove content. Many of those requests came from U.S. agencies.
A federal appeals court recently ruled that the White House, CDC, and FBI “coerced or significantly encouraged” social media platforms to suppress protected speech. The federal government even considered monitoring every bank transaction over $600.
This is not freedom. This is a warning sign.
Why We Must Stand and Defend It
Freedom is not automatic. Each generation must choose it, fight for it, and defend it. Our Founders pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. They didn’t do that so we could live in fear of saying the wrong thing online.
We believe the answer is simple. Speak truth. Teach history. Defend the Constitution. Stand up for your neighbor. Live your faith boldly. These aren’t empty slogans. They are the building blocks of self-government.
At FourG Media, we call this living by the Core Four: God, Gas, Guns, & Glory. We defend religious freedom, energy independence, the Second Amendment, and American patriotism, because they are all part of the same fight for freedom under God.
Hold the Line. Light the Fire.
We believe in more than remembering history. We believe in living it.
As July 4th approaches, we are asking you to recommit. Speak boldly. Act with conviction. Lead with truth. Our Founders gave us the gift of liberty, but it is ours to keep. Let’s not trade it for comfort or silence.
Let’s keep the fire of 1776 burning.
