Reflecting on Constitution Month: Why America’s Founding Document Still Stands the Test of Time
Each September, patriots across the country celebrate American Founders Month, sometimes known as Constitution Month, because September 17 through 23 is Constitution Week, followed by Celebrate Freedom Week the last week of the month. This time of year serves as a reminder to patriots why we honor the Constitution, a 236-year-old document that still defines who we are. While radical institutions such as Harvard Law School try to persuade Americans that the Constitution is outdated or even tyrannical, the fact is that the Constitution forms a timeless foundation for our freedoms because it’s based on unchanging truths about GOD, human nature, and American liberty.
The Founders’ Faith and Foresight
Critics of the Constitution would like us to forget that the Founding Fathers based its principles on what the Declaration of Independence calls “self-evident” truths. This alludes to the fundamental logical principle that certain truths, such as the law of non-contradiction, can’t be consistently disputed and form the foundation for all rational arguments, so that anyone disputing them is automatically contradicting themselves. This principle ultimately rests on the fact that GOD, the great “I am” (Exodus 3:14), is eternal Truth (John 14:6), and all truths and rights ultimately come from Him.
From this foundation stems certain natural rights built into human nature, which the Declaration calls “inalienable rights.” These include the rights to “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness,” which governments are designed to protect. The Founding Fathers enshrined these rights in the Constitution and Bill of Rights by establishing a limited government with checks on power. This wise design has safeguarded our freedom for generations, even through wars and social upheavals.
How the Constitution Protects Liberty, Faith, and Family
Our most fundamental natural right is the GOD-given freedom to choose, which the First Amendment guarantees, protecting the right to worship freely and speak truth without fear. Most of the other Amendments are geared toward ensuring due process, property rights, and state sovereignty to protect families and communities from tyranny.
The Second Amendment gives citizens the means to defend these rights against those who would infringe upon them. These protections safeguard the everyday freedoms that “The” FourG Nation cherishes: raising families, running businesses, and living out faith openly.
Modern Challenges to the Constitution
In recent years, the left has mounted increasing efforts to erode constitutional protections. Following the lead of foreign powers like the EU, the American left has begun openly attacking free speech using Orwellian labels like “hate speech,” “disinformation,” and “climate denial” to censor dissenting opinions. Meanwhile, as terrorists attack churches and conservatives, activist judges have enabled critics of the Constitution in denying Second Amendment rights, even openly defying Supreme Court decisions they don’t approve.
These gradual removals of constitutional protections illustrate how American liberty fades not through sudden collapse, but gradual neglect. Defending the Constitution requires patriots to understand its principles, live by them, and demand them in the public square.
Our Duty to Preserve
As patriots, we have a duty to preserve for future generations the gift GOD has given us through the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — the product of faith, divine guidance, and sacrifice. We exhort “The” FourG Nation to study the Constitution, teach it to your children, and stand boldly for its principles. As long as Americans honor GOD and the Constitution, our freedom will endure.
