A Line in the Sand: Christian Patriots Must Stand Tall in the Face of Leftist Hatred and Spiritual Warfare

Charlie Kirk’s assassination represents a major escalation in America’s cultural warfare, which is ultimately a spiritual battle. Enemies of Christianity and America are openly targeting Christian patriots in an effort to suppress free speech about our beliefs. While leftists have been using this tactic for years, attacks have become increasingly frequent and diabolical, from transgender terrorist Audrey Hale’s 2023 shooting of Christian elementary school children in Nashville to similar attacks on Christian schools in Wisconsin in 2024 and Minnesota in 2025. Several recent mass shooters have been tied to websites frequented by Satanic cults also implicated in swatting attacks on colleges and child abuse, underscoring the spiritual dimension of recent violence. In the face of violence, Christian patriots must draw a line in the sand, resisting the temptation to retreat and continuing to proclaim the truth in defense of our families and our faith.

Recognizing the Reality of Spiritual Warfare

Scripture reveals the spiritual dimension of violence against Christians, which runs deeper than politics. Jesus taught, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” (John 15:18) John saw that after Michael hurled Satan from heaven, the Devil pursued the Woman who gave birth to Jesus as well as “the rest of her offspring who keep GOD’s commands and hold fast to their Christian testimony.” (Revelation 12:17). Paul advised Timothy that “everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,” (2 Timothy 3:12) If you’re following Jesus, expect opposition.

Understanding Why Patriots Are in the Crosshairs

Why are Christ’s enemies targeting those who profess love for GOD, our country, and our Constitution and attacking faith in schools, public prayer, and the First and Second Amendments? Because our Constitutional rights leave us free to seek and speak the truth, and the Father of Lies and his followers cannot abide by truth. GOD is truth, and truth’s light reveals evil for what it is, stripping away sin’s rationalizations and calling sinners to repentance. Those unwilling to repent and fear what truth reveals about themselves (John 3:19). Those who stand for truth always invite resistance from GOD’s enemies.

Drawing Strength From GOD and Each Other

While our enemies are powerful, our GOD is infinitely more so. GOD always wins, conquering even death and the hearts of His enemies. He calls us to preach the truth to our human enemies in love, while battling our spiritual enemies to our dying breath. And He does not leave us defenseless, but equips us with the sword of the Holy Spirit and the armor of GOD (Ephesians 6:10-18). Just as Jesus repelled the Devil in the desert with prayer, fasting, and Scripture, strengthened by angels, the Holy Spirit empowers us. And we don’t fight alone, but united in the Body of Christ.
